Switches & Crossings Pads

Unlike standard plain line pads used in their millions, Switches and Crossings require many variations of pads to cater for the different sizes brought about by their different positions within crossovers etc.

The angle of the turnout / crossover will require totally different pads compared with the angles of other turnouts. The fastening system may also require rail pads that are offset (i.e. not symmetrical) with each turnout perhaps having so many variations that a ‘kit of pads’ may be necessary.

Trackelast provide ‘kits of pads’ to suit customer requirements

1750
(0.128 - 1.128 MPa, 2Hz)
10mm sample thickness
FC10 is used as a baseplate pad between baseplates and steel, concrete or timber sleepers where moderate oil or grease contamination is present, and also (subject to load capacity) in bridge bearing applications.
FC16 More Info 70 1.15 6400
(0.1 - 1.1 MPa)
4.8mm sample thickness
N/A FC16 is used primarily for supporting ceramic insulators on third rail and other areas where a high degree of electrical insulation is required. It is also used as a baseplate pad with steel or concrete sleepers.

Used as a rail seat pad, for use between flat-bottomed rails and malleable iron or steel baseplates. FC846 is particularly suitable for areas of high wear and tear, for example on switches, crossings and tight radius curves.
FC897 More Info 96 1.23 N/A N/A Used for shimming and mounting applications, especially under baseplates, FC897 offers a useful alternative to steel shims, offering flexibility and excellent electrical insulation properties. Trackelast FC897 can be used under any normal loading conditions.

FC128 More Info 94 0.93 785
(20-80 kN)
5mm sample thickness
N/A Rail seat or baseplate pad designed for fitting between the rail and sleeper or baseplate. It can be supplied with retaining lips to prevent dislodging when in service as a rail pad. Also suitable for use with any axle loads, from light transit systems to heavy freight lines.
FC584 More Info 60 1.05 190
(20-80 kN @ 1200 kN/min)
10mm sample thickness
N/A Used as a rail seat pad material, for use between either flat-bottomed rails and concrete sleepers or on malleable iron or steel baseplates. It is designed for maximum axle loads of 25 tonnes and speeds up to 250 KM/hr.
